Congresswoman Ann Wagner Calls on Joe Biden to Allow States to Lower Taxes, Stop Unconstitutional Government Overreach
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after she called for President Joe Biden to suspend enforcement of a provision in his $1.9 trillion partisan COVID-19 package that effectively bans states from reducing their own taxes through 2024.
“I am appalled that, in this time of economic uncertainty for so many hardworking Missouri families, Joe Biden will not allow states to lift up their citizens and cut taxes. Missourians and indeed all Americans have been overburdened throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and we should be looking at every way to make their lives easier, not harder. That begins with making sure hardworking families keep more of their paychecks.
“The people of Missouri know what we need here at home, not the federal government, and this unconstitutional abuse of power must stop. Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress have continued to force their big government way of life on Missourians for too long, and it’s time we give this power back to the States as our Founding Fathers intended.”
Rep. Wagner cosponsored legislation that would allow this tax relief and also joined her colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden to this effect, you can read that letter here.
