Rep. Wagner Statement on Prime Minister Netanyahu's Speech to Congress
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ann Wagner released the following statement on Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to a Joint Meeting of Congress:
“At this time, Congress must unequivocally demonstrate to Israel's enemies that Israel has the full support of the United States and its allies. Only through strength and unity will the threat of Iranian aggression in the Middle East be eliminated.
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress confirmed what many of us in Washington have suspected for quite some time. Iran's quest for nuclear weapons and support for global terrorism threatens not only the stability of the Middle East, but the very existence of our ally Israel. Iran, through its many terrorist proxies, represents a consistent threat to freedom and democracy in the region, around the world and right here in the United States.
“The U.S. is nearing the close of yet another round of negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear weapons program, a process which has dragged on for years. As Prime Minister Netanyahu told Congress today, a bad deal is worse than no deal. Wagering the peace and security of the United States, Israel and the world on the small chance that a hateful and deceitful regime will suddenly change its modus operandi is not only wrong, it is foolish.”
