Wagner Calls for the Resignation of Secretary Shinseki

May 22, 2014
Press Release

(Washington, DC)  Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) called for the resignation of the Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Eric Shinseki:

“For over six years, Secretary Shinseki has been in charge of the Department of Veteran Affairs.  And for six years, Secretary Shinseki has failed to provide timely services and care for our veterans.  Secretary Shinseki has failed to fulfill his mission at the VA.  The Core values of the VA are:  Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.  Secretary Shinseki has failed to uphold these values, and I am therefore left with no choice but to call for Secretary Shinseki’s immediate resignation.   Our veterans deserve the highest level of care which they have earned through their valor and military service.  We need a new leader at the VA that will demand accountability, and cut through the bureaucracy to get the job done.

“To make matters worse, President Obama indicated he only heard about the scandals at the VA through the news.  Whether it’s the botched ObamaCare rollout or the IRS targeting conservatives for political gain, this Administration has shown incompetence and mismanagement at every turn.   Mr. President, you don’t need another study at the VA; you need to look in the mirror and start leading the American people.”
