Wagner Demands Accountability For Our Veterans

May 21, 2014
Press Release

(Washington, DC)  Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after President Obama’s remarks on the ongoing Veterans Administration scandal:

“Our veterans deserve the highest quality of care.  The atrocities unfolding at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are not about one man, but a culture of failure and corruption that must be reversed.

“Once again, President Obama has demanded yet another study to get to the root of this administration-wide epidemic.  What the president fails to recognize is that no study can replace leadership and accountability.

“Today, the House will take action by passing the VA Management Accountability Act.  This legislation will give the Secretary of the VA more authority to remove and terminate employees who contribute to this agency’s culture of failure and lack of transparency.  I urge the president to call on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to act on this bill immediately.

“As a mother of a soldier currently serving in the 101st Airborne, I will do everything in my power to restore trust amongst our nation’s heroes and hold those responsible for this failure accountable.”
