Press Release
The President gave remarks reiterating his Administration’s commitment to paid parental leave

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after she joined President Trump and Ivanka Trump for a Bipartisan Paid Parental Leave Summit:

“I thank Ivanka for inviting me to the bipartisan White House Child Care and Paid Leave Summit.  This was an incredible opportunity to bring Members of Congress and paid leave advocates together in a bipartisan setting with the goal of making life easier for new parents during one of life’s most precious and exceptional moments. I have labored on this issue for many years and yesterday we passed a historic bipartisan NDAA that included paid parental leave.  Ivanka has been a strong partner as I advocate for paid family leave, and I am confident that with her help and the support of President Trump we will see paid family leave become a reality for all Americans. The United States is the only industrialized country in the world that does not offer paid maternity leave, and I will not rest until we have provided more solutions and flexibility for all American families.”

Rep. Wagner, Chair of the Suburban Caucus, introduced paid leave legislation this year and yesterday praised the inclusion of paid parental leave in the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act.
