Wagner Statement on Passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (MO-02) released the following statement after passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act:
“The current state of our military readiness is unacceptable and impacts our ability to respond to global crises. This morning, Congress broke the gridlock and finally passed a bill that, as Defense Secretary Mattis said, supports our troops and rebuilds our military. Fully funding our military, which is bolstered by the leadership of Missouri’s robust defense industry, is the single most important thing we can do to provide for the national defense and a safer America.
“Moreover, this legislation repeals Obamacare’s ‘Death Panels,’ which endangered the sanctity of life and basic healthcare access for the most vulnerable members of our community. Combined with the already passed repeal of Obamacare’s Individual Mandate, it is clear we are continuing our promise to repeal the most burdensome components of Obamacare. The Bipartisan Budget Act also funds the fight against opioids, provides much-deserved care to our veterans, supports community health centers, and includes critical funding for the NIH. Today, we put the safety and well-being of Missourians and America’s troops first.”
