I am always honored to hear from young people seeking a nomination to one of the United States Service Academies. As the mother of a United States Military Academy graduate, the privilege of nominating outstanding candidates to each of the academies is a responsibility I take very seriously.
Nominations for the class of 2025 are closed.
The nomination application period for the class of 2026 will open in early May 2021. Candidates must also apply directly to the academy(ies) of their choice so please visit the service academy websites (links above) to learn more about their programs and admission guidelines. Note that a nomination is not necessary for application to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Students are encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT more than once as the academies, and my nominations panel, take the highest subtest scores from different test dates. To submit ACT/SAT scores directly to my office use the code of 7501 for ACT and 6985 for SAT.
To be considered for my nomination, completed application packets must be submitted by the October deadline (TBD). The 2nd District Academy Nomination Panel will only interview candidates who have completed all aspects of the application process by the deadline. The panel nominates candidates based on a “whole person” evaluation, as suggested by the military academies. Factors such as academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills, physical aptitude, character and motivation are taken into consideration and compared with the other district applicants.
Candidates will be informed by mid-January following the October deadline regarding their nomination status. The academies will then extend an offer of appointment to the nominees of their choice.
