Rep. Wagner Statement on Bipartisan Task Force to Investigate Terrorist Financing

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ann Wagner released the following statement after being named to serve on the Bipartisan Task Force to Investigate Terrorist Financing, which will make sure that the United States is doing everything possible to prevent the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations from using the global financial system to support acts of terrorism:

"I am honored to have been selected to serve on this important and bipartisan task force as part of my role on the House Financial Services Committee. Today, terrorists are getting more and more creative in the ways that they are financing themselves, including utilizing avenues within the financial services sector, and it will require a comprehensive look from Congress on how the U.S. can help shut these funding streams off and cripple these organizations. As a former Ambassador, I have experience in helping identify money laundering activity as well as shutting off funding and freezing assets for known terrorists and criminals. I look forward to bringing this experience and knowledge with me as I serve on this important task force."

The Committee is expected to adopt a resolution that will officially create the task force this week.
