United States Service Academies
Nomination Applications for the class of 2030 have closed.
The nomination application period for the class of 2031 will open in mid-March 2026. Candidates must also apply directly to the academy(ies) of their choice so please visit the service academy websites to learn more about their programs and admission guidelines. Note that a nomination is not necessary for application to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Students are encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT at least three times as the academies, and my nominations panel, take the highest subtest scores regardless of the test date.
To be considered for my nomination, completed application packets must be submitted by the October deadline (TBD). The 2nd District Academy Nomination Panel will only interview candidates who have completed all aspects of the application process by the deadline. The panel nominates candidates based on a “whole person” evaluation, as suggested by the military academies. Factors such as academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills, physical aptitude, character, and motivation are taken into consideration and compared with the other district applicants.
Candidates will be informed by mid-January following the October deadline regarding their nomination status. The academies will then extend an offer of appointment to the nominees of their choice.
