Rep. Wagner's Statement on the Beginning of the 114th Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Ann Wagner released the following statement after being sworn in to represent Missouri's 2nd Congressional District in the 114th Congress.
"The American people have given Republicans the majority in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives for the first time in over 85 years. Starting this week, the unified American Congress will act on our solutions that will increase American incomes, improve their standard of living and restore the American dream. The 113th Congress was mired in gridlock and stagnation with the Democrat-controlled Senate refusing to consider nearly 400 pieces of legislation which the House had passed. That era of gridlock is over and the American people will now see how a new Republican Congress can lead.
"It's an honor to serve the people of St. Louis, Jefferson and St. Charles counties in the United States House of Representatives. The 2nd District is home, it's where I've grown up, worked, volunteered and raised my children. As well, the peoples' priorities of the 2nd District are my priorities. I will never stop working for the people who have given me this true privilege to serve in the 114th Congress as their Representative. Today is a great day for this nation, a hopeful day, and I am excited to get back to work."
