Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO-02) released the below statement following the House passage of the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act. Under this legislation, the White House would be required to certify to Congress that sanctioned individuals or foreign banks are no longer supporting Iranian weapons development or terrorist activities before easing restrictions:
“President Obama’s nuclear agreement with Iran empowers our enemies while rewarding the bad behavior of a proven terrorist sponsor and jeopardizing the safety and security of American families and our allies. Today, Congress took a necessary step to ensure that U.S. sanctions on Iran remain intact and enforced. The United States needs stronger leadership on the global stage and today’s vote will not only hold the President accountable, but more importantly, continue to hold Iran accountable.”
