Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO-02) released the below statement following yesterday’s release of President Obama’s final budget proposal:

“The President’s budget proposal not only increases taxes on American families, but piles onto our national debt and never balances. In addition, President Obama continues to target the pocketbooks of low- and middle-income Americans and their ability to save for retirement. While the President’s budget claims to boost workers’ ability to save, this Administration instead pushes policies that take away choices, crowd out the private sector, and claim that government knows what’s best for everyday Americans. That is why I introduced, and the House passed, the Retail Investor Protection Act (RIPA) to help families better invest in retirement and protect them from this Administration’s continual power grab. I look forward to passing a responsible budget that actually tackles the national debt and doesn’t put a further burden on our children’s future.”
