Wagner Responds to President Obama’s Speech
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s speech in Warrensburg, Mo today:
“It is always an honor to have the President of the United States visit the state you love regardless of their political affiliation. And during a time when our country is divided with partisan bickering, we need a leader who is willing to bring us together.
“Maybe it’s just the ‘Show-Me State’ in me, but I’m ready for the President to stop giving speeches and start working towards solutions that will get our economy moving again. Missourians are doers, and while speeches are nice, we want action.
“Right now, President Obama can approve the Keystone XL pipeline and create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs, while ushering in a new era of energy independence. This Administration can also take steps to work with Congress to enact meaningful tax reform to make America competitive in a tough global economy. And the President ought to take this opportunity to work with Congress to delay his health care bill, to give the American people the same break that he wants to give big businesses.
“Without real leadership from President Obama on bipartisan, pro-growth economic policies like these - our nation will continue to struggle - and that is simply unacceptable to me. It’s time we learned to work together again by putting progress ahead of partisanship.”
