Wagner Statement on the Balanced Budget Amendment Vote

April 16, 2018

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Ann Wagner (MO-02) released the below statement following Thursday's Balanced Budget Amendment Vote:

"Just like every other Missouri family, my husband and I sit down together to determine our budget. We balance our checkbook and ensure that we are living within our means. It is time for Washington and our federal government to live by these same rules. The joint resolution I voted for yesterday in the House would have been the first step in the process of creating a constitutional amendment to prohibit the government from spending more money than it brings in and require the President to present a balanced budget to Congress each year. It is time to put Washington, D.C. on the path to fiscal responsibility."
