Wagner Statement on the EA-18G-Growler Funding Levels

May 5, 2014

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Ann Wagner (MO-2) released the following statement after the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee released funding levels for the FY 15 National Defense Authorization Act for the E/A-18G Growler:

"While this is a small step in the right direction, I will keep fighting to provide more funding for the E/A-18G Growler with my colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Appropriations Committee and in the Senate," said Rep. Ann Wagner. "Since the Growler will remain a required escort for nearly every combat mission now and through 2040, it's imperative that we support this vital program and maintain our military readiness. By jamming enemy radar and sensors and attacking the computer networks that connect them, the Growler creates an electronic fog around American aircraft, keeping our troops safe from surface-to-air missiles or enemy fighters. As the mother of a soldier currently serving in the 101st Airborne, I want a Growler there in the combat theater to support the mission and return our troops home safely. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support funding for this life saving program."
