Wagner Statement on Tax Day
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) issued the following statement on Tax Day.
“Today, millions of Americans will send their hard earned money to Washington to comply with a tax code that is too complex, too costly and kills economic growth and prosperity.
"Each year, hardworking Americans spend over 6 billion hours preparing their taxes – costing taxpayers $160 billion that could have been used to grow our economy and increase the standard of living for hardworking middle class families. That’s why House Republicans are committed to reforming our tax code to create an environment that jumpstarts our economy with high-paying middle class jobs.
"By making the tax code simpler and fairer, we can lower tax rates so families can save more, so employers can hire and invest more, and so there are more jobs and higher wages for all Americans. For the people of the 2nd District, comprehensive tax reform means more money in your pocket and it means Washington has to live within its means. I came to Congress to get things done and now is the time to act.”
