Ann Wagner Reappointed as Chair of Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets

January 9, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill (R-AR) reappointed her as Chair of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets:

Capital Markets Chair Ann Wagner: “Over the past two years as Chair of this vital subcommittee, I have made it my mission to foster greater capital formation, advocate for Main Street investors, and promote market access for those looking to save for retirement, a home, or their child’s education.   My colleagues and I have worked together to rein in overregulation by President Biden’s absolutely reckless SEC and ensure we are supporting small investors and businesses, not stifling their ability to create jobs and grow our economy.  It was an honor to chair this hardworking and productive subcommittee in the 118th Congress, and I am proud of our work to pass good, commonsense legislation, to the tune of 66 bills through the committee and 56 bills in the House.

“I am confident that, with President Trump back in the White House and a Republican majority in the Senate, we can get even more legislation over the finish line in the House and to the President’s desk so they can have the force of law behind them.  President Trump will be a strong partner in our shared commitment to support capital formation and ensure financial regulations are targeted, effective, and not overly burdensome.  I am thankful to my good friend and colleague Chairman French Hill for this opportunity to continue my Chairmanship of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets so we can achieve great victories for American families.”

Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill: “Rep. Wagner has been a terrific, energetic Subcommittee Chair of Capital Markets for the past two years, and I look forward to her continuing to lead this Subcommittee in the 119th Congress. She understands the importance of businesses across the country having access to capital and enhancing the United States as the global leader in liquid, transparent, and orderly capital markets. I am delighted to have her serve as my Subcommittee Chair for Capital Markets once again.”
