Rep. Wagner Statement on the Reintroduction of the SAVE Act
Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ann Wagner released the following statement after the reintroduction of the Stop Advertising Victims of Exploitation (SAVE) Act in the 114th Congress:
"Today, I introduced the Stop Advertising Victims of Exploitation (SAVE) Act of 2015, which will give law enforcement the tools they need to investigate and prosecute those who knowingly advertise the victims of sex trafficking. For far too long, the horrors of sex trafficking have gone unchecked, and I am committed to fighting on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our society. I was pleased that this bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives in overwhelmingly bipartisan fashion in the 113th Congress and I am confident that—under our new Senate leadership—this bill will now be considered in the U.S. Senate as well.
"It is unacceptable that websites and online advertisers are profiting from this deplorable activity. I am privileged to be able to work with my colleagues from both parties in combating this heinous crime. Together we can ensure that any advertisement used for the sexual exploitation and enslavement of innocent victims will be eliminated once and for all."
