Wagner Applauds Congressional App Challenge Winner

December 20, 2023

Ballwin, MO – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement on this year’s winner of the MO-02 Congressional App Challenge:

“Congratulations to Serena Huang of Parkway Central for winning this year’s Congressional App Challenge in Missouri’s 2nd District!  Serena’s “Anchor App” was chosen for its beautiful user interface and robust technical design.  Her app helps teens easily track their finances and build responsible spending and saving habits, incredibly important tools for young students.

“I would also like to congratulation our 2nd place winners from Parkway South Rohan Potta, Mazinkhan Nadaf and Allen Zheng, as well as our 3rd Place winners Rachit Patek and Navin Narayanan who attend Lafayette High School.  Thank you to our host, The Coder School, and our Head Judge Everett Johnson for helping us make this year’s competition an incredible success.”

Serena will be invited to participate in the 2024 #HouseofCode this spring. Her app will also be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives' website and as part of a U.S. Capitol exhibit.

The Congressional App Challenge is a national competition highlighting the value of computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, the Congressional App Challenge allows students from across the country to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice. By recognizing our nation's young programming talent, Congress hopes to shine a light on the growing importance of these skills.
