Wagner Votes To Strengthen National Security, Support Our Military

December 14, 2023

Washington, D.C.  – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement on the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act:

“One of the most important roles of Congress is to support our military and provide for the nation’s defense, and this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is one of the best I have seen during my time in Congress.  I voted for the NDAA because it is a $3.6 billion win for our region, includes the largest pay raise for our troops in more than 20 years, and makes historic investments in deterring and countering our enemies like Russia, China, and Iran. Also included is my MARITIME Act, a bipartisan bill that builds on the successes of the Abraham Accords in the Middle East and helps our partners in the region counter sea-based threats from bad actors like Iran, transnational criminals, and terrorists.  The final bill also includes my House-passed amendment to require DOD’s Anti-Trafficking Office to incorporate efforts to combat child sexual abuse and exploitation, including by educating members of the U.S. Armed Forces on how to properly identify and report this horrific crime to law enforcement whether at home or abroad.

“Unfortunately, Senator Hawley’s RECA amendment did not make it into the final version of the NDAA.  I will continue advocating for this issue so our constituents can get the help and support they deserve.”
