Foreign Affairs
As a former United States Ambassador, I saw firsthand what strong ties with our allies and partners mean to an enhanced national security, free and fair trade, the protection of American interests abroad, and the promotion of democracy and human rights. I am committed to ensuring that our nation remains safe, secure, prosperous, and ready to respond to threats like terrorism, natural disasters, and mass atrocities.
I believe we must steadfastly support the nation of Israel and protect our partners against Iranian aggression. The United States must not tolerate any efforts to harm our allies. I am also committed to maximizing economic pressure on North Korea to force the Kim regime to abandon its development of nuclear weapons and delivery systems. I seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis on the Korean peninsula and a just world that respects the human rights of all people. In addition, I co-founded and co-chair the Congressional Caucus on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), an important region that is key to stability in the Asia Pacific. ASEAN is America's fourth largest goods and exports market, rivaling our market in China, and an important buyer of Missouri products.
